Micah's School Bus

So we had our first homework assignment. I'm not sure if the homework is more for the child or the parent. It seems so far for the parent. I didn't realize I was going back to school. Anyhow, I'm having fun with it! Although, this morning Micah had his first procrastination lesson. During breakfast I realized we had a homework assignment, so we quickly did it over breakfast.

His first assignment was to fill out this school bus with information about him. It was so cute hearing him answer these questions. I didn't even know his favorite color, so it was neat to hear him articulate those things. I think it turned out pretty good, what do you think?

First Day of Preschool

I'm not sure if this journey is a bigger adjustment for Micah or his mommy. We signed Micah up for preschool last February, which seems like years ago! Now that we are finally here, I'm not sure if I am ready. He only goes two days a week, but to be honest it was really hard to leave my baby. As I walked into the classroom for the first time, my eyes got teary! Why? It really caught me off guard and I quickly snapped out of it. But I think the reality that my child is getting older, and is only moving on to more and more independence finally grabbed a hold of me. I'm so glad though because I want to savor every moment. So Monday I was forced to savor it, soaking up every bit, as I watched my child happily join the other boys playing with cars. Without a look back, he joined in the fun. A reassurance to me that we made the right decision and he loved it!

When we went to pick him up, I'm not sure what we would find. A little part of me wanted him to have had a really hard day because he missed his mommy so much! But as we opened the door, my little boy's face lit up and jumped in my arms. A moment I will treasure. He was so excited and told me all about his day! How they played outside, learned a weather song, painted, and ate their snacks. We treated him to lunch of his choice (mexican) to celebrate his first day. We are so proud of him and know he will have so much fun at school!

A Surprise Shower!

Saturday I was surprised by my mom, mother-in-law, sister, and grandma when they threw me a baby shower. Being my third child, I wasn't really expecting one, but it was a special treat to have one, especially being that this is my first girl! They had the shower at a local tea room, which provided the perfect atmosphere! It really was one of the best showers I've ever had. It was such a treat to have an afternoon with the women who have been a treasured part of my life. Family, friends, and ministry partners were all there to celebrate our sweet little girl.

*By the way, my adorable husband knew I would be concerned with what I would wear, since it was a surprise. So he went out and bought me a dress to wear to the shower! I got so many compliments, and people were so surprised that he picked it out himself. But it is no surprise to me. He is very good at picking out my clothes, and I LOVE most of what he picks out!

The place, Feathernesters, was so pretty inside. It had a little shop in the front full of all kinds of housewares any woman would want.

The food, which was so yummy! We had everything from scones to quiche to cheesecake just to name a few! And the most fabulous strawberry lemonade...yes, I got tea too!

This is Micah's true love. He refuses to admit that he can't make it in the 10 ft basket. He is actually getting pretty close. He's a sharp shooter from the top of the key but it's his inside game that scouts are keeping their eye on. Today he offered up this trash talk, "Dad, you can't stop me. I will dominate you"...and he was right.

"Small" Group

Today was a really cool Sunday. We are trying to soak up every last minute of summer, so we spent the afternoon/evening at a lake about 45 minutes from Richmond. This is our small group from church. In case you care, there are 6 couples and 17 kids under the age of 8. Did I mention 3 more on the way? It was a great day. Micah rode a SeaDoo for the first time (and loved it- just kept yelling "we're the big guys!") and Caleb just floated on his back in his life jacket. We are truly blessed to have these friends in our lives.

Krista's Shower weekend

This weekend I went to Maryland for Krista's Bridal Shower. She had been there most of the week doing planning things with mom from flowers to dj to trial run for the hair. Planning wedding out of town are so hard to do. You have to cram it all in one little time span. As we are nearing the 1 month mark, things are getting busier. Friday night my family went out for crabs, which was oh so yummy. It is pretty much becoming a tradition now with two of us living in other states when we come home, crabs it is! It was weird though, it was the first time we had our original 6 person family with no extras, sorry Ed!

The shower was at the Maid of Honor, Erin's house. Krista and her have been friends since birth. We had a nice little potluck shower where everyone brought a designated dish to share and gave Krista the recipe. So she left with quite a collection of recipes.
