Please be praying for my wife's "clemantis". I am not sure what that is, but it sounds like a nasty disease or an unsightly rash. I sure hope "the wire thing" helps clear it up.
Anyway, this post cracks me up because I came home and saw the "nappy head of hair" all mangled in the front yard. I just scratched my head and didn't ask questions. I knew good 'ole green thumb was back at it. It's funny because Katie has not painted an accurate picture for you. She says that everything she touches dies. This is NOT true. Her problem is deeper than that. Her problem is that she simply DOES NOT TOUCH IT. I believe that she would be a good gardener if she would actually touch the thing occasionally after she plants it. A little TLC, a little H2O. I believe in you Kate! Don't call it brown until you use it. -Ed (let's not talk about my lawn care)

Green Thumb?
Ok I must warn you right off the bat, if you are a gardener or even remotely close to being good at it, you might be a little disgusted! So today, was day two of my boys being with "ma" and "gee-daddy", so after I finished cleaning, I decided to tackle some much needed gardening. Last night, I bought some petunias and a hanging basket. I started pretty simple, since everything I touch dies. So today I realize I don't have any potting soil so out to the store I go. I decide to try an official flower and garden center here that I have never been to. After I parked my minivan amidst the rows and rows of Lexuses, I walked in the store. It was definitely one of the first times I walked in and felt literally lost! Where do I go? What did I come here for? Don't look lost! (yeah, right!) So I did what anyone would do, pull out the cell phone and start texting! I know pitiful, but I had to gather my thoughts...So i walked around a little and after about 3 minutes decided this is stupid, I'm going to Home Depot! So I left!
Fast Forward to Home Depot...I feel much more at home! I decided on a prearranged hanging basket with geraniums and baby yellow petunias (adorable), potting mix, some wire thing for my clemantis, and I even decided to try again at a houseplant! I arrived at home ready to tackle my gardening. After getting everything ready, I slapped on my gloves, (can't getting my hands dirty! actually I more use it as a protection from bugs! pitiful again I know) and got started with my hanging basket from the night before. It looks beautiful! Hopefully their life expectancy will be longer than a goldfish! Next to the already made hanging basket, all I did was take the tags off, pull off dead blooms, and hang it! Voila! Georgeous!
Ok, here is the worst part. I decided to tackle the clemantis. If you are like me, and don't know what it is, it is basically a climbing vine with flowers. It was already here when we moved and is planted right at the base of the lamp post. This is our 3rd spring here and I still haven't managed to get it to"climb" the lamp post. So I got these glorified twist ties to tie it to the post. Well the thing is a nasty mess because it has just flopped on the ground and this massive thing just grows and grows. It is like a really nappy head of hair. So i get the gloves on, start trying to pull the dead wet moldy stuff out from the bottom. Not only does it smell, but I start to see a few little critters. First a white spider, then one with a silver butt, oh and he likes to jump, then the wolf spider! That is why I am sitting inside writing on my blog instead of finishing that project! We'll just leave that job to Ed!

Last couple of weeks
We've been really busy these last couple of weeks. I kept reminding myself that we would be very busy in April and May, but now that it is here, I'm still feel like my life is a whirlwind right now!
The last couple of weeks have included:
-wedding at church that I directed and another one this weekend
-celebrating easter
-soccer
-building a swingset, Ed, not me!
-a visit from Uncle Ray and Aunt Stephanie
-a visit from The Whites
-driving to NC to buy a minivan
-a leader retreat
So here are some pics from the above!
There he is...number 2!
The new swing set! Ed and a friend built it one Friday, and Micah has enjoyed it every day since! It has three swings, one is a baby swing, and a slide. They also rigged it so our zip line goes off the slide. The kids love it!
Caleb and Rylen, they are only 4 months apart. This is Ed's childhood friend Dave's little boy.
My new car! I love it so far. We were lucky to find such a rare find, it is an 05, low mileage, never been used by a family, so virtually no wear and tear! We also committed since our Dave Ramsey class not to have any car payments, so we waited until we had the money and are proud to say it is paid for!!
Last weekend we had a youth leader retreat. It was awesome! It was just a time for us to get away and spend time together and rest. A family in the church let us stay at their lake house and we couldn't have asked for a better day!

Blog Break?
Well as you've noticed, I've been absent from the blogging world. Many family members have been on me about updating the blog, but life right now is just a bit to hectic for me right now and the blog immediately fell to the bottom of the list.
So what's new with the Martins:
*naptime has increased from two children to two children and mommy
*Zofran is my new best friend
*Cooking is an almost never around here
*Suddenly, I'm having a hard time finding a bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding
*Ed and I are minivan shopping
*increased doctor visits
*oh yes, and a new little baby growing inside me!
He or she is the size of a grape now. I am 9 weeks today! Our due date is November 7th, 3 days before my birthday! We are very excited for our new little baby!
