Out with the Old, In with the New

Well for those of you who have been to our house know that we have a room that needs a lot of help! Our family room looks like it came straight out of the 70's. It had awful wallpaper that was torn down, only to find the walls were not primed before. So long story short our walls are ruined. The ceiling is a popcorn ceiling, yuck, with one ugly fan and no light. There is wood paneling on the bottom half. Did I mention it was very dark wood paneling and trim? Then to top it off, we have a glorious forest green carpet. It is very dark, old, and definitely not decorated.

Well today we have a man coming to fix it! Yeah! He will tear down the walls, Ed is kind of jealous and wants to help him, put them back up and have it ready to paint! Yeah! He is also going to get rid of the popcorn ceiling and then we will have recessed lighting! Yeah! So for a week to week and a half our house will be in shambles, but all a price I'm willing to pay to have it done before baby #2 comes.

It is one of those things we could've done ourselves, but just didn't have the time to do it. So I am so thankful for this man, whom Ed calls Gary Sheetrock! I don't even know his real name!

Girls Weekend!

While Ed was gone, Micah went to stay with Ed's parents for a weekend so I could go enjoy a girls weekend with my mom and two sisters. It was so fun. I guess it was a first annual kind of thing. We all met at my mom's house in Annapolis and stayed there all weekend. Friday we enjoyed a day in Baltimore, shopping, eating (a lot!), walking (a lot), touring, and visiting the ghetto to get the best crab cakes you can find! Saturday we had a "make-up lesson" with my aunt who is a professional make-up artist (so fun!), got one of the best pedicures a girl can find, and then relaxed the rest of the day. Sunday we relaxed some more, dad made us breakfast, watched the Louie Giglio "Indescribable" video at home for church, then packed up, and Krista and I left.

It was such a great weekend to reconnect with each other and be able to just relax. I had three mornings of waking up on my own schedule. One morning I even out slept my sisters! I think I woke up at 10. I can't remember the last time I slept that late! It was so fun and I highly recommend it. I think next time we are going to try to travel somewhere for the weekend. Daddy's Home!!

I was a little busy this past week as Ed was in Peru. Micah and I had 10 days by ourselves and it was hard! We missed Ed so much, but are very glad he is home.

Micah had a hard time understanding where Ed was and when he was coming home. I took him to the airport to pick up Ed. It was the cutest thing. When Ed came out, Micah took off running towards him and literally jumped in his arms. I about cried!

He came bearing lots of gifts. One is the soccer jersey Micah is wearing below. He loves his "new shirt", as he calls it.

This is a hat Ed got for the baby, but Micah squeezed it on. He is not too keen on the idea of having to share anything with baby brother. Oh, the road we have ahead of us!

Ok, so I know all of our husbands have made us do brackets even though we do not have the Flaherty Farms Bracket Challenge this year. So who is in your championship game? I figure the Sheltons have UNC winning it all! I have a rematch of Tennessee and Memphis with Memphis winning. Revenge for them!

Some time on the Lake

Here are some pictures of our trip to the lake last week. Micah had a ball. He stood on the beach waiting for boats to go by, just throwing rock after rock into the water. He is my sweet boy!

Scrappin' it Up!

Oh girls I miss you so much! Today we are having an all-day scrapbooking day at church. I am oh so excited, and have high hopes to finish Micah's first year album. Yes I am still scrappin the past! But somehow it just won't be the same as meeting in Jen's apartment, set up with tables, popcorn, shane and shane going in the background, or the occasional movie. So while yes I am very excited, a piece of me will also be missing. I love you girls!

Micah's First Bowling Party

Today we went to a bowling birthday party. Micah was so excited even though he didn't really even know what bowling was. Anything with a ball will entertain him. The first three frames he was all about it, but didn't quite understand the take turns thing. Then he lost interest, but he came back late in the game and, oh, he wanted to win! Or was that his dad! The afternoon was topped off with pizza, cake, and a trip to the arcade! What a day!
