Update on the room

As you can see, we had the entire room gutted and redid the whole deal. This last picture was pre-carpet. We love it now and are almost fully ready for the new little man. Who needs HGTV when you're livin it.

Thinking Back...

As I sit here a week and a day from my due date, I anxiously await the arrival of our new baby. We have been working so hard to prepare our home and Micah for this little one. And yet I have so many wondering questions like, Who will he look like? Will this delivery be easier? When will the baby come? How will this baby be different than Micah? Will Micah understand and know that we still love him to death? Will this baby really be a boy like they said or will it be a surprise again? Am I really prepared myself?

As I literally just wait as time seems to stand still, I find myself reflecting back to Micah's birth. I found some pictures today from his first few days. He was so precious! Things were so hard those first couple of weeks! Am I ready for sleepless nights and days? What will it be like with a newborn and a 2 year old? I find myself anxious to experience the intimacy that Ed and I will share the day the baby is born. There is nothing like it for a husband and wife. The Lord has been so gracious to us to allow us to experience this again. We are so grateful to the Creator to let us have a front row seat to the birth of another worshipper of Him.

Making Progress

Well the walls are back up, recessed lighting installed and working, ugly fan taken down...I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It has been a long week! Today my mom and I went and picked out some fabrics and paint colors. So now we are in the painting stages, which I am so tired of. We also need to go pick out new carpet for the room because we are definitely not keeping the forest green. I'll post pictures soon!

He did it again!

So two years running now my husband has picked the final championship game on his bracket. Not only has he had the right teams, but also the right winner. So unbelievably he watched his bracket play out the way he predicted. Next year I'll make him write the score of the game. We could be heading to Vegas soon!

Out with the Old, In with the New

Well for those of you who have been to our house know that we have a room that needs a lot of help! Our family room looks like it came straight out of the 70's. It had awful wallpaper that was torn down, only to find the walls were not primed before. So long story short our walls are ruined. The ceiling is a popcorn ceiling, yuck, with one ugly fan and no light. There is wood paneling on the bottom half. Did I mention it was very dark wood paneling and trim? Then to top it off, we have a glorious forest green carpet. It is very dark, old, and definitely not decorated.

Well today we have a man coming to fix it! Yeah! He will tear down the walls, Ed is kind of jealous and wants to help him, put them back up and have it ready to paint! Yeah! He is also going to get rid of the popcorn ceiling and then we will have recessed lighting! Yeah! So for a week to week and a half our house will be in shambles, but all a price I'm willing to pay to have it done before baby #2 comes.

It is one of those things we could've done ourselves, but just didn't have the time to do it. So I am so thankful for this man, whom Ed calls Gary Sheetrock! I don't even know his real name!

Girls Weekend!

While Ed was gone, Micah went to stay with Ed's parents for a weekend so I could go enjoy a girls weekend with my mom and two sisters. It was so fun. I guess it was a first annual kind of thing. We all met at my mom's house in Annapolis and stayed there all weekend. Friday we enjoyed a day in Baltimore, shopping, eating (a lot!), walking (a lot), touring, and visiting the ghetto to get the best crab cakes you can find! Saturday we had a "make-up lesson" with my aunt who is a professional make-up artist (so fun!), got one of the best pedicures a girl can find, and then relaxed the rest of the day. Sunday we relaxed some more, dad made us breakfast, watched the Louie Giglio "Indescribable" video at home for church, then packed up, and Krista and I left.

It was such a great weekend to reconnect with each other and be able to just relax. I had three mornings of waking up on my own schedule. One morning I even out slept my sisters! I think I woke up at 10. I can't remember the last time I slept that late! It was so fun and I highly recommend it. I think next time we are going to try to travel somewhere for the weekend. Daddy's Home!!

I was a little busy this past week as Ed was in Peru. Micah and I had 10 days by ourselves and it was hard! We missed Ed so much, but are very glad he is home.

Micah had a hard time understanding where Ed was and when he was coming home. I took him to the airport to pick up Ed. It was the cutest thing. When Ed came out, Micah took off running towards him and literally jumped in his arms. I about cried!

He came bearing lots of gifts. One is the soccer jersey Micah is wearing below. He loves his "new shirt", as he calls it.

This is a hat Ed got for the baby, but Micah squeezed it on. He is not too keen on the idea of having to share anything with baby brother. Oh, the road we have ahead of us!
